Conservation Easements PDP FAQs

There is one course in this Professional Development Program: Valuation of Conservation Easements.

The program addresses concerns by the federal agencies for more comprehensive education on conservation easement valuation, one of the most controversial and scrutinized topics in valuation.

The program is 4 days long (28 hours and a 2-hour exam).

Anyone may take the course in the Valuation of Conservation Easements Professional Development Program. Only AI Designated members, Candidates for Designation, and Practicing Affiliates, however, will be placed on the Registry.

The Valuation of Conservation Easements Professional Development Program’s Registry is located on the AI website. It lists the names of Designated members, Candidates for Designation and Practicing Affiliates who have successfully completed (attended and passed the examinations) the course in the program. Placement on the Registry shows potential clients and employers that these individuals have obtained knowledge on this specialized topic.

From time to time, AI’s Education Committee will assess if additional courses need to be added to the Valuation of Conservation Easements program. If one or more courses are added to the program, you will be notified in advance. When the course or courses become available, an asterisk will be placed by your name on the Registry to reflect that while you have taken and passed the first course, you haven’t taken any recently added courses. Once you have taken and passed the additional required course(s), the asterisk will be removed.

No. It is only approved for continuing education (CE) hours. The course has been approved by the AQB for state CE (state appraisal regulatory agencies).

Yes. AI CE credit for Designated members and Candidates for Designation will receive the following points for Valuation of Conservation Easements: 250 points (attend and pass the exam); 200: (attend only).

Yes. It is approved by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Education Provider Program at the mastery level, allowing participants who hold the LEED AP designation to earn USGBC continuing education credit.

No. You must attend the course and pass the exam.
